We at BSV recommend and use dogs that come classified under the gun dog breeds. We utilise Labrador’s predominately, but also have a Weimaraner and a German Shorthaired Pointer on staff. We have used other breeds such as Golden Retrievers, Red & White Irish Setters and Springer Spaniels. Whilst almost all dogs could find a truffle, it’s the gun dog breeds that excel at detection work. This is evident with the majority of the world’s Police & Customs agencies utilising gun dogs, especially Labradors and Spaniels.
